Cherished Moments

Waiting
As the morning slips through the blinds.
Petty conversation bides our time.
The caffeinated ones flitting in and out of the couch
Staring at a blank TV
Making plans for a day that soon will end.
Waiting
for the microbial gases in our hearths
to cause our souls to rise with time
the bluish light of overcast skies dulls the eyes

were I a carpenter,
oh the things i saw and the trees i see
molded in my hands like earthen pottery
trickle down my forearms rivulets of dust
the sacrificial sap of the mighty mahogany.
